Constance Sofa by Audo Copenhagen
Constance Sofa
Named in honour of Flemming Larsen’s wife, Irene Constance, the Constance Sofa is an inviting piece of furniture. The plush and shapely piece rests on wooden legs and features an exaggerated form with deep seat cushions, curved back and armrests and button details. Deceptively lightweight despite its portly shape, the award-winning piece was first designed in 1935 for the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers’ Guild’s annual exhibition in 1935. Set on wooden legs, the Constance is available in a range of fabrics and leathers.
Credited for his role in bringing functionalism to Denmark, Flemming Lassen was an architect and designed noted for his exacting craftsmanship and naïve expression. In the 1930s Lassen set up office with Arne Jacobsen, and together worked on many illustrious projects.
