elegant english riviera kitchen

project

Soft tones with oak accents are a winning combination for a kitchen with an air of elegant sophistication.

the brief:

Our clients asked for a modern but timeless kitchen, light and elegant but not all white.

the design:

bulthaup are the masters of earthy tones and natural hues so our clients had plenty of colours to choose from. The bulthaup b3 wall units are finished in Kaolin (a soft off white) with contemporary oak interiors. The kitchen island is finished in Clay, a slightly darker tone, and is raised to give a feeling of space. The kitchen island on legs also gives an uninterrupted view of the beautiful herringbone solid wood flooring. An oak, raised bartop sits at one end of the island breaking up long lines and adding interest and depth. The breakfast bar is also positioned in the wideset part of the kitchen to keep the space free-flowing when the barstools are in use.

This kitchen may look understated but a lot of thought has gone in to its layout making sure our clients have all the storage they need. The double-width island has a combination of cupboards and drawers either side, perfect for getting cutlery without interrupting the chef! Pocket doors house additional worksurface to keep a drinks station and counter-top appliances neatly out-of-site when not in use.

Contemporary oak panelling across the back wall compliments the oak details and wooden floor in this classy kitchen. That said, the wall panelling isn’t just for show; bulthaup’s cleverly engineered system includes soft lighting and a sleek floating shelf – the perfect home for our client’s collection of Delft Blue miniature traditional Dutch houses.
