Devon Cottage Kitchen
project
The charm of cottage kitchens is often an eclectic mix of old and new.
the brief:
Already enjoying a bulthaup kitchen in their London home, our clients approached us to help design a new bulthaup kitchen for their Devon country cottage.
the design:
This cosy Axmouth kitchen is full of period features which we wanted to highlight and make the most of. Keeping the walls and cabinets white is a brilliant foundation for showcasing the exposed brick and stonework. Alpine White cabinetry by bulthaup has Aluminium edges which gives a subtle twist to an all-white kitchen and oozes quality. To maintain simplicity in this cosy kitchen the worktops and wall panelling are also in this finish.
The bulthaup worktop includes an integrated sink, drainer and chopping board. The sliding chopping board glides over the sink to create additional countertop space when prepping food and hides the sink when not in use. The induction hob is set flush into the surface and a discreet extractor is concealed in the bespoke wall unit above; in older kitchens bespoke cabinetry is often the best solution to higgledy-piggledy walls and making the most of awkward spaces.
The wall panelling includes bulthaup’s cleverly engineered function rail, a versatile hanging system with countless combinations. Options include cookbook holders, herb pots and shelving but this kitchen features soft lighting, a kitchen roll holder and hooks for hanging utensils.
