sustainable single storey newbuild
project
A timeless, natural bulthaup kitchen feels right at home against the Tors of North Dartmoor.
the brief:
This single storey newbuild is discreetly nestled in the Devon countryside and split over three levels to blend with the natural surroundings. Our clients wanted a contemporary kitchen built to the highest standards but also a kitchen could settle gently against the moorland outlook.
the design:
Mention an oak kitchen and you’ll be forgiven for thinking of outdated, honey-toned kitchens from the 1980s and 90s. However, this kitchen is far cry from those shiny wooden kitchens of the past. Here a responsibly sourced solid oak island sits beautifully alongside aluminium cabinetry to create a nature-inspired kitchen.
Engineered oak wall panelling softens the kitchen space and contrasts strikingly with anodised aluminium units. Anodised aluminium is a premium finish which comes in a selection of colours thanks to a clever electrochemical process. Our clients opted for dark grey as it flows with the building’s sliding doors and external facias.
Having visited numerous top quality kitchen showrooms I was immediately struck by how personal the staff were at Sapphire Spaces. They listened very carefully to my wish list and expectations. I was then introduced to Valerie, my own designer and the relationship grew from there. Together we spent many hours refining and honing the final details. Nothing was too much trouble. Even the most exacting customers could not fail to be impressed by the dedication to achieve the perfect outcome. Installation of the kitchen by their delightful team went exactly to plan, with minimal disruption. The kitchen fulfilled all our expectations and more. It is both beautiful and practical and totally fits into our very high quality new build. We expect to be happy for many years to come. And Valerie? She has become a life-long friend!
