contemporary city kitchen
project
Nestled in the highly sought-after residential area of St Leonards this Exeter newbuild, designed by TFQ architects, is a beacon of contemporary luxury.
the brief:
Our clients wanted a softly streamlined, ‘less is more’ discreet kitchen for this large, open-plan living space.
the design:
An elegant white kitchen never fails to impress and this bulthaup kitchen is a great example of high specification design. Every component, finish and detail has been carefully considered to deliver serenity and simple beauty. Organic materials, uncomplicated shapes and natural colours blend harmoniously to compliment the transition from indoors to outdoors.
Alpine White cupboards have a subtle, matt lacquer finish and offer ample storage to keep this open-plan space uncluttered. The stylish tall units also have beautiful oak cabinetry inside and house a range of appliances including a wine fridge and external ice dispenser.
A multifunctional island zones the space, provides an informal seating area, and allows the cook to look out while working. We used Corian for the work surface because it offers a seamless finish and comes with many practical benefits. Corian’s flexible nature allows the surface to follow down and form the sides of the sink for a sleek, continuous look. The worktop also includes a recessed, flush drainer which is cleverly fabricated in to the Corian.
To further enhance the beauty of this minimal kitchen we used brassware fittings by German specialists Dornbracht. Dornbracht’s Filtered Chilled and Hot Water Tap for drinks, Single Lever Mixer (with a pull-down spray function) and Built-in Soap Dispenser have all been manufactured with a bespoke white finish.
Oak barstools with natural leather complete this light, open design with simple furnishings that are both beautiful and comfortable.
