Like Saarinen and Mies, Bertoia found sublime grace in an industrial material, elevating it beyond its normal utility into a work of art. The Italian-born American sculptor,  Bertoia  manipulated metal to create structure, space, light, texture and sound.  By work with Knoll, his experimental work was transformed into the iconic seating collection.  Each piece is  individually hand welded ensuring durability and quality. The linear composition creates both a visually light object with a graphically bold presence. A selection of various seat and back pads along with a full cover option not only adds comfort, but also provides an opportunity to choose from a selection of Knoll Textiles and Spinneybeck leathers.
