What makes a really good bathroom?

There’s a lot of attention given to how a bathroom looks, but often it’s the less obvious decisions that determine how much you enjoy living with it.

It’s about how the room feels to use every day, the materials you enjoy living with and the details that make it feel personal to you. And whether, years later, you still walk in and think: I love this room.

A family bathroom, for example, has a very different job to do from a principal ensuite or a more restful, spa-like space. Thinking about that first,  before choosing products, tends to lead to much better decisions.

Product knowledge becomes really important at that point, because different collections give us very different ways to solve a design.

A beautiful Agape bath can become the starting point for an entire room, while Cielo’s colours and finishes allow us to move well beyond the traditional white bathroom.

Brassware is another area where the options have become far more interesting. Collections from VOLA, Dornbracht and Gessi give us a huge choice in form, finish and the way water is delivered

And increasingly, we’re having conversations about how a bathroom can contribute to wellbeing too. Sunshower is a good example. By incorporating infrared and UV light into the shower, something that’s already part of the daily routine can do more than it did before.

There are countless decisions you could make in a bathroom. Good design is knowing which ones are worth making.
