In 1960 Hans J. Wegner sketched an upholstered easy chair which has gone on to become one of his most celebrated works. At the time, only a few examples of the Wing Chair (also known as CH445) were produced but the chair was brought back to life when Danish furniture maker Carl Hansen & Son dusted off the drawings and relaunched the chair at the 2006 IMM Cologne furniture fair where it won a classic innovation award for its timeless appeal.
Staying true to the original blueprint by using Wegner’s original 1:1 drawings Carl Hansen & Son have upheld the original construction and materials including solid beech frames and hand-sewn piping. Wegner’s clever design means the Wing Chair is angled in such a way that your body can’t help but relax. The “wings” of this chair provide superior support for your upper back, neck and head, while the roomy seat allows you to sit in a variety of positions
